Not sure if he's still going but I used to go to Phil Norman's gym years ago, he's a great boxing trainer and he ran some shoot classes too. Used to be on Christchurch Road as I remember.

    Google is your friend!
    "Live strong"
    "Speak true"
    "Dream big"

    New MMA Club

Hi , just seen your post from last year. At present we have a
    MMA club running in sandford.
But there is an exciting new MMA Academy opening in Bournemouth end of October 2009.
Look out for leaflets and pass the word around.
The new Academy will be the best in DORSET .
our exsisting web address os phoenixmmaclub.co.uk
There will be no info regarding the new gym on the web site. I have only just started the marketing.
Also look out for us in Bournemouth Town centre soon.
    Cheers

    Sukhothai MMA in Bournemouth

    Hi there -
We operate the Sukhothai Academy located in Charminster - real close to most of the Students housing. As well as great Cardio and weight facilities our centre has a 16ft boxing ring and large training area with different bags.

We have the produced many Muay Thai champions over the last 6 years including having one signed with a USA PPV Production. We also have on board a professional Boxing Coach in ex-pro boxer Danny Ruegg and also Greco-Roman Instructor Andy Lawrence now on board.

We run Muay Thai classes actually at the University for the Uni at a real low price - and also offer students a great Student Discount.

As for being able to compete - we are one of only 2 gyms who stage professional shows in Bournemouth. Battle In Bournemouth and this term we will be having on the undercard WKA University Area Bouts so that gives you something to aim for,

But when you get here - we will be at your Freshers Fair so ask any questions you have then,

    Enjoy Bournemouth!

Bulldog Gym in the centre of Bournemouth does MMA- Jeff Lawson (of Ultimate Fighter season 9 fame) is currently running a rolling 6 week course for beginners, message me if you would like further details. Its ongoing so you can join whenever. Very welcoming club, I have just joined myself, also run other classes in muay thai, kickboxing and boxing plus fantastic conditioning lessons as well.

    Gary Baker Academy

If you’re in the Winton or Moordown area of Bournemouth and up for something a little more exotic with your MMA training, pay a visit to the Gary Baker Academy just off Wimborne Road (Hawthorn Road: opposite Sainsbury’s).

Our head coach is a former student of Dan Inosanto and Rick Faye of the Minnesota Kali Group and classes include MMA, Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, and Filipino Martial Arts: Kali, Eskrima, Panantukan.

The gym hasn’t been going as long as some the others in the area (Feb 2009) but the level of ability of both staff and members is impressively high.

Being a relatively new recruit there myself, I can personally say that I’m learning almost as much from the other members as I am from the instructors, and there’s definitely a welcoming, family vibe about the place; something allegedly missing from other more commercialized gyms in Bournemouth.

First week’s free, take a look at the site: Gary Baker Academy of Mixed Martial Arts
