    16 stone guy would probably think all the power is gonna come from his arm ..

    where as the lighter guy will know how to adjust his arse and legs to get as much power as poss

    Brock is an excellent example. He is a true athlete. This is actualyl the way i beleive the industry is slowly turning. More fighters are gaining pound for pound strength and dropping the fat. Even the heavyweights are starting it now. Bob Sapp is another example. Soon we're gonna be seeing more huge freaks who are ripped to shreds and STRONG.

    The same is happening with the World Strongest Man competition. Did any one see this years event where that young 21 year old from europe won it? He was massive, but not a pound of bodyfat on him. He looked like something out a comic book. He also had a vertical jump of at least his own chest height.

    And in the lighter ranks we have GSP and Matt Hughes proving the same point.

    Has someone not read my emanual? =) Bench press strength doesnt have much to do with punching power. You can have a 200kg bench press but if your core and hips are weak then you're cutting off 80% of your power potential right there. The arms probably have the least amount of contribution to punching power out of all the muscles!

    There will always be a debate here about this. but its as simple as this:

    Power = Strength X Speed.

    I'll use an extreme example to show it: Imagine you had on one side of the ring the most biggest, ripped dude you could imagine, who has all the strength in the world, but no speed.

    If he punched you, it would be so slow that it would really just be a push. Literally imagine it in slow motion - maximum strength with no speed. Its a push.

    On the other side of the ring we have a small but nippy and lightning fast guy - with NO strength. Arms like twigs.

    If he puts ALL his amazing speed into a strike, but has no strength, then he is just bitch-whipping you like a gay guy with a towel in a changing room.

    BUT, if you find the right combination between the two - a good amount of strength, then start applying that strength quicker and quicker without losing too much force, THEN your onto a winner.

    So, again Power = strength x speed.If you have only one of those two things, its useless, you gotta have the mix of both. This is why its deadly when a large muscled fighter starts training explosively.
    good post, i didnt mean in the extremes of just speed, i meant over the distance with the speed included. And, who wants to be whipped by a gay guy anyways lol
    Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion, you must set yourself on fire first

    boxing technique is more how to throw a punch without telephathing it then for maximum power, an utrained person is more likely to throw the punch wide and from his hip then the trained person throwing it tight and from his chin, as long as the 16st lad knows to put his hip into it and stay loose he will have more power.

    If you took a 11 stone guy and a 16 stone guy with simular body fat levels
    i would say if they took turns punching each other in the face the 16 stone guy may flinch but the 11 stone guy would be twitching on the floor
