    Motivation

    Ive hit a brick wall,

Ive been weight training for years on and off, but recently ive given in to the lue of MMA as its somthing i have always wanted to do but was afraid of loosing to much weight and size when i was into the weights. Since making the switch i was doing ok going to sessions 3 times a week, but now ive ground to a halt.....the enthusiasm is still there an all i can think about is the training but getting my ass there after work is proving impossible. im far from lazy and want to put the hard work in but its getting through the gym door that i just cant do at the minuite and feel like im wasting more and more time...........

have any of you experianced this or overcome any of this?

Not yet, and I dont hope to for a while, but just as your weight training days, getting through those doors is all you need.

On days you really dont want to go, just dont go, rest up, chill out.

On days where you think meh, youd be okay either way, make that tiny extra effort and walk through the doors, all you need is one step forward towards the gym.

    Good advice.

This last week I've had minor issues that have knocked my motivation, I decided not to goto training and rest instead. I swim on occasional off days as something low impact and different. I went back to training on Saturday, faster and more focused from simply a few days off.

I go through this state of mind sometimes... When basically I train really hard then go through a stage where I rest a little bit (i also do 3 sessions a week but at 5am!) (i.e. miss 1/2 training sessions - eat out etc) - but feels like im being a waster.. I have tortured myself over this feeling before now, but I came to an agreement with myself.. Basically i looked at the situation and thought - what is my goal? My personal Goal is to be / remain a decent fitness level and steadily improve my mma skills (only been training 6 months) I don't want to become a pro or anything like that, so for me I like to get a good balance, so every now and then I miss the odd session because of the GF moaning or because if a social commitment and think so what.. as long as you keep up the good work in general then it's all good...

I think variation is a key factor in keeping yourself motivated.. enjoyment, and relax all play a key part - then design a routine with a line of best fit through them all - thats what I do - but everyones goals and commitments are different. Main thing is too keep enjoying what you do, be honest with yourself, 3 sessions of MMA training and doing weights inbetween or whatever is alot of work depending on your overall goal.. sometimes less is more

Relax mate, don't beat yourself up.

I lose motivation sometimes, Well not losing motavation, Just can't be bothered going to conditioning / technique classes and all i want to do is spar. I hate missing a session as i always feel guilty as hell!
