all the gear, as i shed a Tear

Has MMA made you softer mentally?

Before I started training in MMA I found myself alot more angrier, I'd fight anyone and everyone, right little cocky shit....
MMA has made me more fearful possibly as I won't go into things head first like I used to, i'm more likely to think now.

Anyone have similar experiences? maybe it is just maturity as i'm getting older but suppose MMA has played a vital role in this process.

I'm not saying i'd just rollover and play dead now but all the training and stuff just sometimes makes me feel way too humble.

    Yeah absolutely.

I think it's the fear of getting into a fight with a random and doing them some serious damage and then facing the legal consequences.

Got arrested a while ago for smashing some guy but he started it so I wasn't charged. Sent the shit right up me and taught me a lesson.

I'm much less likely to get in a fight now haha.

I think the fact you kick the shit out of things in training you do not get as much pent up aggression re stress, life, women etc etc and theirfore the initial reaction in a bad situation does not happen and as your mind is calmer you become alot more aware of the chaos that could happen if someone does get smakced and yes then theirs the case if you do better someone and it goes to court you will look bad in front of the judge given your are studying a martial art and should be more controlled than the average pub fighter...

This is what I like about the positive effects of martial arts tho' it makes people humbler and not likely to react for several reasons and lets face it - it's not always cool to kick the shit out of (or have the shit kicked out of you) over matters that really who cares about....when 9 out of 10 times you could walk away?! and again come the cold light of day who cares if you did. :gh aleast you did not spend the night in a cell or hospital.

Well said Si, just wish I had this ability to react calmly when i was a child... 80's Cartoons have alot to answer to with their violence

I've had fights recently but my reactions have been more controlled, as in i've not done anything until my safety was put at risk then i've defended myself.
One of the problems of knowing how to fight is when fighting against someone who doesn't: they come worser off and they could be coked up raging lunatics, if you look alright and they're nearly dead, the police are pulling you in.

for sure brother, and Amen....passers by always asume you started it as well when the other guy is wrecked and you haven't broken into a sweat - like you suckered them and started it all.

What year was itchy and scratchy originated 90's?....When I see judge Judy that's my alibi.

My mother knew Sophie and her boyfriend quite well, she has had regular contact with the attackers and their friends often as well.

She works for the young peoples service there in Rawtenstall btw....
