    Angry Pinned and no where to go?

    So there i was again at training last night, after receiving an accidental knee to the face whilst lying on the floor!
    We were finishing with our usual 3 x 5min grappling only rounds.
    I keep finding myself pinned and stuck with a severe lack of options how to get out. I have my opponent in guard and yet again its stale mate. I should add its only my 4th session and perhaps i am expecting too much from myself.
    But it annoys the hell out of me!
    Twice i tried to shift my hips and roll out but both times i gave up my neck ending up being rear naked choked. God Dammit!!
    Any suggestions guys or will it come?

    When in your guard bump your hips the bring your right arm pit up onto his right shoulder have your left hand on your right wrist ie go for a kimura then break your guard and bump in the same direction of the kimura and you should end up in mount it's the kimura sweep and it's my favourite sweep. Or you could bring your right leg over his left shoulder and get your right foot to the floor then roll your body out you will end up in the omaplata position but they can roll out of an omaplata so you could leave that arm and go for the back then get a rear naked of your own

    Put your hands on his face push it right, hips go left, shift up with the free arm grap his right arm spin round into an arm bar works every time.

    Make sure you push his face firmly tho or it wont work and you risk getting choked out in a vulnerable position.

    4th session? with practice comes perfection keep at mate youll get it eventually

    you have got to remember we are like puppets! push the head the shoulders follow. same with the hips use the head, shoulders and hips to manipulate your opponent.

    4th session no worries - it's upto you, try and just survive or what I used to do was try and sub the dude - worst case scenario I got tapped and hey, it's just rolling - next time I would not use the same move - you learn quick that way , but at lesson 4 do not expect too much - just enjoy ...private lessons will help you ten fold (if you can spare the cash ...normally get a good game plan for your style as well from your instructor)...

    I love to be aggressive when on my back - 1 tip which works across the board do not keep your back on the floor, keep moving..if you are being out gunned in the strength department if you put your back on the floor and stay on the spot you will get pinned every time - again good posting by previous folks - all those tactics work run em in your head a million times so when it comes to doing it you don't have to think - most people have to think and get pinned whilst trying to work out what goes where or their mind goes blank an they pannic - mastering JJ by Renzo Gracie is still my number one book - for good solid basic info of high percentage moves and the art of Kazuchi (sp) he does it well - plus if you go thru the book in order you will see how one moves links to the next and links the move previously, so you can trap someone - no matter what way they go and if you get in that situation you will be aware what not to do!!! or what your partner will try to do - so you can pre empt it and set them up :thumb.

    Your'e right about the thinking thing. I dont panick when i am on the floor thats the 1st lesson i taught my mind. but as you said while i am thinking about something to do, or trying to implement something that we did during the lesson. Bam the other guy has put a move on.
    I do have the advantage of strength which is my only weapon at the moment. But just lifting guys off all the time gets tiring after 15 mins!! I generally get choked as my strength defends me against the armbars etc Its getting enough practice and experience to realise that something is on or that something can be done from the position i am in.

    As I say Check out some books - JJ is unlike thai (for example) where you have to practice the move to really know it - you can get the theory from a book so then it's just figuring out how to apply it in a sly manner when someone is wriggling on you - helps you get it in your mind then it's just practice rather than having to really think and defend and attack at the same time.

    Im in the same position, done 4 bjj lessons, but I dont have the strength on my side, as Im much lighter. So if I get caught in something, I dont do the last bit that caused the sub. Trial and error I guess.

    from my experience - as I am weaker than Marc and he could pin me easy ...I just relaxed and anticipated a move - if you push someone the automatic reaction is to push back and if you pull someone then will automatically pull away (this is Kazuchi (sp)) = off balancing, same applies to stand up when drilling takedowns you may not realise what you are doing but kazushi is how the little guy trips the big dude.

    Basically, on the newer guys push or pull them wait for the automatic reaction, anticipate it and get ready to make your move i.e improve your position or pull a sub..i.e when in ur guard push em - so they pull away grab the arm move across - slap on an armbar/kimura or improve your position etc etc...as I say a good book and rolling with your instructor can really improve your game...JJ is very technical so get the technical side in your head then drill,drill,drill then find a gimp:laugh:
