    traditional martial arts

hi, does any one on the forum do any of the traditional martial arts? if so, which one and if doing mma why do you still continue with the traditional stuff?

myself, i am a student of the traditional japanese jujitsu. why? because although i love doing the mma stuff i find jujitsu more suited to the streets where there are no rules and where neccessary i can use a choke/arm lock etc to its fullest capacity. i aint stopping when the guy starts tapping etc.

    care to discuss?

I mainly practise Traditional Chinese MA, Shaolin kung fu (5 animal styles) which i prefer to the Sanshou i learn aswel.

I Like it because i feel more suited to it, dont know why i just do. love it! I also love learning of all the origins of the MA.

I study traditional jujitsu and eskrima (non-sports based). I started traditional jujitsu just for something to do (same goes for the eskrima), but as I begun to think about it since I'm waiting for applications to South Wales Police to open up I figured that if I get through the application process the things I'm learning I could transfer alongside the other compliance techniques to compliment them.

The only thing stopping me from doing mma at the moment aswell is the distance to the closest club and also the amount of time I seem to be lacking.
Feel the fear and do it anyway.

I dont know if others would consider it a traditional martial art but had I the time for it these days I would certainly have liked to continue to cross train my MMA with the catch-wrestling that I used to practice back prior to my hiatus from the sport.

Certain things really compliment MMA training and wrestling is definately one of them. Any additional training is good although there are probably some traditional martial arts where you would be better putting the extra work into more MMA classes.
