    tattoo question

    Hi guys

i had my tattoo done (half sleeve) on the 26th of september. When is it safe to return to training? A guy told me to put vaseline on the tattoo to protect it from the gi. I feel the tatoo has healed properly so i'm thinking of going back to training next week. Anyone had a similar experience?

    thanks !!

I was at trainin 3 days after my first tat - just covered it in vaseline then a tube-grip style bandage thing!
then after training cleaned it and added some bepanthen.

will be doing the same again this week as had new one done on saturday.

One thing to NEVER do is put vaseline on a tattoo, it acts as a barrier to the skin breathing and healing properly and can also interfere with the ink used making the tattoo look dull or even blurred. make sure you have not got any scabs let at all and that you're a week or so on from having them, that way the skin SHOULD be back to normal. Lets face it tats aint cheap and not looking after them will just result in them looking shite..

well almost two weeks have passed...the tattoo looks ok, i've stopped using creme (only once a day). I think it'd be ok to put a bit of vaseline...even though i don't think the gi will do any harm

Jesus! Do not put Vaseline on a healing tattoo , Preparation H is the best thing for them and cuts healing time in half , Savalon is a slower alternative.

Once its healed you have nothing to worry about.

yep vaseline is a big no no, Bepanthen is your best bet. Once its finished itching/peeling whatever then just keep it moisturised when u train.
bear in mind when i get a tat done they itch like HELL when u start sweating, but once teyre healed its fine

It did hitch like hell, but I thought it was because of the shaved hair grown back.
