Iliotibial band syndrome - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I think i may have this. My right hip is pretty inflexible and it clicks alot. It clicks when I'm walking, running, training, stretching, sitting at my desk, Any time really. It also causes a bit of discomfort when trying to sleep at night.

I've been to the doctors, who referred me to the physio, Done physio for about 8 weeks and had no improvement, tbh they seemed clueless at what it was. Then had 3 sessions with an osteopath who was also pretty clueless, said it didn't seem like there was much muscle in my lower back so to do planks / some other lower back exercises to try and build this up but still had no joy.

Anyone else had this? Something similar?

I swear there's something up with my hips. I'm so unflexible so I've been giving it my all during the stretches, and now they seem to 'pop'... hmmm.

I've had some hip issues of late. most likely not sufficiently stretching and warming up. Problem is made worse by the fact that all of my kicks are dynamic at the mo (eg. front leg turning kick to hook kick) murder on hips. Any way I had my hip flexor stripped by a physio which worked really well although its flaired up again. if your clicking there maybe some weakness in the supporting muscles causing the joint to displace.

Not an expert but i've had issues myself and my mum has joint issues with her knees which Im hoping not to have inherited.

    Hope this helps,
    Regards,

I had something similar which eventually settled after 4 weeks, have a look at this, Trochanteric Bursitis of the Hip ,I started to take glucosamine which helped repair my knee as well as my hip.

    Cheers for the info folks.

I'm going to get some glucosamine and give it a try, So far I’ve tried physio, osteopath, good stretches throughout the day....but it's still pretty achy and restricting full power in my body kick i feel .

Aw, you're welcome (sorry for late reply, been neglecting this site of late), jut hope they helped a bit.

Try a foam roller if you can, apparently they're meant to be amazing for helping to sort it out.
