I think my gloves are too big.

    Hi all,

Ive bought a pair of size L 16oz gloves and I think theyre too big, even when wearing hand wraps.

How do I know how they should fit?

Ive searched but all results go on about weight and general sizes as opposed to how it should fit your hand and how or what you should feel when you connect a punch.

    Any advice please?

If you think they're too big .. try and order the smaller size and see how they are ..

I prefer to have my gloves tighter than loose

Ahh what a numpty, its me.

They dont come in sizes, I thought it was a L but a mate pointed it out that there is no size.

They still fit pretty loose though.

Like, I jabbed the bag few times, seems like my first set of knucles (nearest to nails) connect as opposed to the flat side.

    Probably my technique?

yeah, concentrate on your first 2 (big knuckles) hitting the object, if your gloves move or your fist moves or your wrist fitting is loose then the gloves are two big - you should be able to make your wraps pad this out (although not ideal you will probably miss time a technique or get tired, throw a sloppy punch and at best hyper extend your wrist (oouch) or at worst break your wrist or fist.....rather than spend a few bob on another pair - if you have not got em already get "mexican" hand wraps normally about metre and a half longer than western wraps and learn to wrap em so they pad out the bits that are loose - or go into a shop and try on a couple of different makes - as they are normally different fitting and slight difference in size:happy:

    Thanks for that Si.

I have some Mexican wraps but they still felt loose.

TBH, I sparred with a few mates today and they didnt feel bad at all. Looks like Im worrying over nothing, just not familiar with how they fit thats all.

yeah, take it easy till you are used too / confident in em...sometimes it just takes a while to get used to a different glove - it's no used going full power whilst being apprehensive (sp) pulling a strike and hurting yourself.
