Korean Kickboxing Grading tonight
Well
Tonight I have my first grading for Korean Kickboxing.
Hopefully jumping to Yellow belt as there has not been a grading in a while but might just be yellow tab but either I would be happy at:thumb
Quite nervous about it actually.
Starts at 8 and finished at 10 :-)

I've seen quite a bit of 'korean kickboxing' but am lost as to what it really is! I have seen examples of Kyuk Too Ki ans also Gwon Gyokdo and think there are some really useful stuff in them both. I've always been a fan of taekwondo as a sport but don't think it translates to mma very well due to the lack striking with fists this despite the awesome leg work.
but these two systems appear to address the flaws of taekwondo and imo would be very useful but can't find very much info on them. Can you shed light? Imagine some of the top muay thai fighters with awewsome leg strikes like that of taekwondo?

so how did the grading go? who is irt you actualy train with as well?
-
Its the punches of boxing and kicks of Taekwondo.
It was instense 2 1/2 hours of hard training. I have never experienced anything like that before.
I came out with an injury, went to turning kick someone and caught there knee with my shin, i have a weak shin from falling when I was younger and im in agony with it) I winced but carried on.
We find out if we passed on Monday.

Nice did you do that early on or near the end as if you did it near the start that could have been a real bad thing.
Well good luck hope you pass man.
In my gradings for kickboxing we have to do a 1 hour training before then anything between 1 hour - 2 hours grading.
-
Yea thats pretty much what we did, its was about 45min warm up then we split into 2 groups.
Higher gradings then the lower gradings.
Started with jogging and basic warm up then into Skipping then press ups,sit ups, tuck jumps, squat thrusts.
Then punching combos
Shadow boxing
Leg combos
Kick for kick sparring
Hand sparring
Just feet sparring
Then full sparring in 1min rounds (did about 5 rounds)
We did breaks in between for the other group to go up.
Then for the black belts we did 2 on 1 which was good. Some of them are excellent fighters.
Yea I did it right at the end on my 5th out of 6th round trust it to be when i was right next to the Master infront of the grading table but he spurred me on as i just switched stand and went for it.... At the end he was saying how well i did etc and he seen people drop out for less of an injury.
I loved it :-)

sounds good man. how often are you training then and do you step up your traning before the grading for a week or so?
i have a date for my next grading but havent trained in over 3 weeks plus i have a holiday 1st full week of sept and the grading is on the 19th. so i really don't know if i will be fit enough to do it.

Monday evening, wednesday evening and Saturday morning.

Just to let you know I passed and went straight to Yellow belt:thumb:thumb
Over the moon.

congrats! Can you ask your coach or you yourself post some more details of the sport on here and show some details of any clubs around the country? I think it's something that a lot of people I know would like to try.
