a slip bag is a small bag about the size of a speed ball suspended about head hight from a cord of some sort, that you swing and just before it wacks you in the head you can slip level change lay back or use footwork to avoid it. tyson spend hours everyday working the slip bag.

you can make one by filling a plastic bag with gravel putting it in a sock and then wrapping it in duck tape and tying a piece of string to it.

let my explain what i mean by bobing and weaving, its not ducking hooks you should use a level change for that like you would before shooting, all your doing is bending your knee's and moving your head from side to side. you use it when your just on the end of your opponents jab to move in close t-rexing his arms and forcing him onto his back foot. its not so much used to avoid a specific strike but to make your head amoving target so you can get in close.

if the dude is hitting you in the forehead I'm guessing he had your number and was not trying to hurt you - When I spar I aim for peoples foreheads as obviously I'd feel like a twat if I injured someone (broken nose/black eye etc) - not that I'm that good but just incase I did clip em..

I tend to sacafice my legs in favour of protecting my liver/kidneys and head!!! - kinda works - can't say I've been bashed in the face much compared to time fighting - but like every stance/method their is a plus and a minus...so maybe a bit slower throwing a harder jab etc - just gotta figure out what works - do you know how long the other guy has been training etc? - if he has been training longer or is just better than you - no big un, but it's good that you have thought about it and want top improve - so top points to you and a big gold star:thumb.

    haha thanks si

He's a mate from school, hes been watching mma for a while but only got into training after watching a youtube vid of me KO'ing a lad after i had been there 4 months or so!! The main trouble is, although his technique is slowly improving he has stupidly large amounts of power, god help us after 2 years of training or so....
iv started to realise i need to up my cardio and move in and out, an dlink up combo's. It was ok at first when peoples technique wasnt great i could take punches all day, and im still pretty good and walking through them, but obviously now people are better and after a while they do their share of damage! :tuf

ha ha - yeah the best defense is not being their...ask Ricky Hatton!!!!! - using your head to block is not good for a long career or your health - just be careful with overcooking the slipping as you will get a knee or elbow to the head if you are not careful...I am speaking form experience - against a good fast Thai fighter he will just plain knee you or use your movement to pull your head down and then flatten you and if its MMA - anything could happen...you sound to me like you have a sensible out look get your endurance up and use your speed - if he is a orthodox move to his left (your right) so his straight right is far away and he has to move left to jab you (as he is out of alignment if he throws a jab it will have no power or accuracy) - when he is trying to move left to line up with you ATTACK:tuf...then move out before he can react, rinse and repeat if his endurance is worst than yours you will "run rings around him and pick him off and take little damage"
