Thread: at what UFC event......

did it become mandatory to wear gloves? i know back in the day not everyone wore gloves also things like footwear and GI's were regular attire

anyone know if the current rules were brought in gradually or if it happened at a particular event?

i'm guessing it was after dana became president of the ufc

weird I was only reading the history of UFC (to mark the 100th show) in MMAU'ltd t'other day...TheHeft and wiki are correct - although I remember Tank Abbott questioning it in about UFC 6 - kindda like (think Amercian accent now)

"Hey, Tank X has chosen to wear gloves"

bearing in mind the guy *commentator) had just worbbled on for about 5 mins about how the strikers keep breaking their hands on Royces (amongst others) heads:laugh:..buggers up RNC's tho.

I think it was in the first UFC where a boxer wore 1 glove, then as senator McCain started making worst accusations about cagefighting, they decided gloves should be mandatory

Do you remember I think it was ufc 1. When the boxer came in with one boxing glove. He was put down elbowed in the face and then tapped.

yeah, basically it just showed how out of touch the boxer was with fighting - he obvioulsy though no one would be able to get around his jab, of what I remember he did not even throw a punch - all my dvd's are in the shop - so will check it out tomorrow - I'm sure he was something like 12 and 2 with some kinda golden gloves title.
