A mouth-watering encounter between Shane Carwin and Frank Mir for an interim UFC heavyweight title decider might soon be in store for fans.
it's rumoured that if both fighters agree the encounter would be slated for UFC 111, on March 27.
Since Brock Lesnar pulled out of their proposed bout last month and continues his rehabilitation, Carwin has been sitting on the sidelines seemingly biding his time waiting for a viable opponent.
On his official website Carwin seemed keen on the idea of facing the former UFC Heavyweight Champion.
"Mir is a multiple-time champion who has been counted out more [than] Mike Tyson to only find himself right back at the top," said Carwin. "He is a legend of the sport, and I would be honoured to fight him."
Mir is coming off one of the most impressive performances in his career - dismantling Cheick Kongo early in the first round in Saturday's UFC 107.
"It was a statement for myself and my training camp, to say that I could bounce back from such a watched and decisive loss to Brock," Mir said after the fight.
