    Kettlebells

I want to start incorporating kettlebell routines into my work outs. Any ideas or links for routines that work well with MMA?

Check out www.artofstrength.com - I've got one of these, Newport incorporates bodyweight exercises as well - can do em to time and even choose background music - although would still recommend barbell work instead):

Steve Cotter has some stuff alleged especially for martial artists and Mike Mahler has loadsa kettlebell and training info on his site and also steve maxwell long time gold medal BJJ fighter has his own workout again skipping, kettlebell and bodyweight stuff - but of what I know these are early productions so not work a long like artofstrength stuff so not as motivational or anywhere as good re quality (of what I know). Check Youtube for links and clips on each for further info as well.

Also, if you wanna do conditioing stuff definately check out full throttle conditioning (and the sites in general of Ross Enamait) www.RossTraining.com
and www.RossBoxing.com low cost, high quality, high function, no fluff - guaranteed to work no silver bullet bullcrap...do your mma training, Ross's "unscripted" style workout and strength training and be a stud/killer machine!!! - man I should be on commission - an yes you can incorporate your kettlebell - again look him up on YouTube and see his clips on his site or for conditioning that is specific to MMA - but no kettlebell involved check out Bas Rutten his MMA workout boxing/Thai/MMA & conditioning is well cool - and hard - still cant make it through the conditioning bodyweight workout (23 mins long). - My recommendation would still be Ross's products then or Bas Rutten:yes:

To add onto Si's excellent post. Check out the fighters only website as they do regular kettlebell specific fight training routines in their mag.

Ive been using stuff out of fighters magazine, the routine Im on at the minute is 4 x 5m30s rounds - swing/ clean/ snatch, that sequence 7 times on each arm. Then put kettlebell down, 10 sprawls with 4 punches between each (jab cross/jab cross) then back to the swing/ clean/ snatch. Keep going until the end of round then have 1 minute break an really suck that air in, youl need it lol after my 4 sets I then do 100 reps of sledge hammer onto truck tyre (50 left/50 right) then finish off with 100 push ups an 100 crunches AND if I really wanna punish myself Il get the medicine ball out for 100 reps of smashing it into my stomach, agh the joys of training

oh, I use a 16kg bell/ 14lb hammer/ 9kg medicine ball. Sometimes I find in the 3rd round I wont be able to complete my kettlebell sets so I either cut down the reps for that round to say 4/5 or just do push ups for the rest of the round. The the final round I go back to my 7 reps an arm an I always manage to get through my final round without having to cut back again.

Depends what kind of weights you are used to lifting and what your stamina is like lifting weights. Ive started off with a 16kg one and its doing me fine (I bench press about 25k without killing myself if you can go off that?) best bet is probably to practice some kettle bell techniques using an ordinary dumbell if you have some, its pretty much the same although kettle bells are meant to hit the core muscle better and increase your grip strength (correct me if im wrong anyone
