    Weekley training regime

Hi all, new here, would really appreciate some criticisms and advice on my training regime.
Havnt been long involved in MMA but intend to fight at the very least amateur if not semi-pro.

    So it goes like this

Monday:- Cardio (Jog/Run), strength training upper body

Tuesday:- Cardio (Jog/Sprints), strength training lower body, MMA (covers all the striking, bagwork, sparring etc.

    Wednesday :- Rest

Thursday:- Cardio (Jog/Run), strength upper body, MMA (cover all the floorwork, grappling, submissions etc also bagwork).

Friday:- Cardio (Jog/Sprint) Strength lower body.

    Saturday:- Rest

    Sunday:- Endurance (high rep exercises)

Cardio always in the morning, rough ground, hills etc. Strength in the afternoon and MMA at night.
Strength training is mostly bodyweight (with added weight) exercises with the addition of deadlift.

After every month 1 complete week of rest.

Now this seems to be working very well but i feel i should have some plyometric and isometric exercises. Also I feel there is a much more solid regime to devise but starting to feel a little lost with the vast amount information available.

    Thank you

I'm no expert (so ignore me if you want), but I'd be doing a lot more fight training if I had any aspirations of competing (but then again, I do some kind of fight training 5 times a week, and I'm still rubbish).

I'm sure there are guys on here who know a lot more than me though... I just train for the fun of it really.

There is no substitute for sparring or rolling and from what I see, your not doing enough.

Also, you rest a lot. Why is that?

    Thanks for the input.

Sparring will be increased, I forgot to put sparring down on thursdays as well. Open sparring sessions will soon be available on saturdays otherwise its off to the boxing gym.

I have active rest days as such. No structured training but still doing sit ups watching tv, pull ups when ever im off to the toilet, jumping up n down stairs, chasing my son around in animal stances, who finds it rather amusing. Always practicing technique while waiting for the kettle to boil, you get the idea, its certainly became apart of my life.

The one weeks rest just makes me feel so energetic and strong.

I wouldnt say there is no substitute for sparring. Sparring is obviously a very important area of training but technique and conditioning are just as important which is why any decent training session should include a mix of all of these.

Cardio exercises is one of the best exercise and it helps you to reduce weight and belly fat, cardio also prevents you from several of harmful infection like the infections of the cancer and the diabetes.

It's been mentioned but for me everything else should take a backseat until you've got your actual fight training sorted. You're alright doing cardio or weights five days a week, but nothing is better for fight fitness than fighting. Simple as that. Sort your priorities and then fit the rest around it.

Well, my fitness is already at a high standard before I started MMA. I ran around 5-7 miles 5 days a week, was very capable at basic gymnastics so my fitness training doesn't interfere with my MMA to much.
I will say though my people who are more skilled but not very fit struggle alot when sparring against me (I do have a background in boxing and a little ju jitsu so im not an unskilled fighter). Im taking on board everyone advice to participate alot more in sparring and combat training though, although i have injured my shoulder so a few weeks recovery on the cards :/.

So thanks for in the input.
