Flexibility
Hey guys, I know it hasn't been a few minutes since my last post but there is something that has been bugging me. I'm not very flexible at the moment, but I really need to become more flexible to first reach the head without momentum and also create more power in my head kicks. I have researched dynamic and static stretching but everywhere I have looked they have only gave an extremely vague description. I would also like to know what times of the day do I need to stretch to improve flexibility.

yoga or pilates is quite a quite way of working on flexability. Also helps strenghten your core which is another important aspect in terms of power and balance.
Make the big swiss ball your friend too down the gym, incorporate that into your exercise routines

A stretching program should not become too routine. From time to time, stretch before working out and or early in the morning. And do it as often as possible. If five minutes are available early in the morning to stretch, take advantage of them.

Thanks guys, I will take note on what you have said. I like the yoga idea and also the idea that it does not have to be incorporated into your routine, you can just do it in a morning and when you have a phew spare minutes.

Probably stating the obvious here but make sure you've got the blood pumping and are thoroughly warmed up before you go putting your feet behind your head :-)

:whs ...when first learning to stretch and getting to know your limitations stretch after you are warmed up, but do not fatigue your muscles too much - once you have flexibilty you can then stretch at anytime and after a few high kicks (for exampls) be able to do a head kick - even after years of training I can't go from nothing to kicking a random in the head (i.e like you see in the movies - cold muscles stretched are pulled muscles!!).
