    HIIT v LDC

I know there's been a few articles on here about tabata over Long Distance Cardio (LDC).

But I was just curious as to what was more effective in the long run for fat loss and better cardio conditioning.

I'm only asking as I can't do any strength training etc due to an injury to my shoulder and I just don't want to be sat around doing nothing until I return to full training.
Feel the fear and do it anyway.

interval training is pretty much said to be better for both fat loss and cardio.

Steady state/long distance is traditionally a martial artists fave, even Bruce Lee swore by it, but is commonly thought of as being old/obsolete info. Long distance is tried and tested by centuries of training, but hiit training has also yielded fantastic results in relatively short period of time too.

Personally- HIIT and steady state depending on what you've been doing (i.e. post weights workout)- but my preference is definately hiit.

Ok cool, sorry but another question that springs to mind now then is, would it be detrimental to alternate the cardio everyday, ergo, intervals on one day and long distance on the days in between.

Don't see why not as long as you have good shoes, technique and protect your knees.

I'm planning on doing them on a stationary bike as I can't run because the impact jars my shoulder which is injured at the moment.

I know, I love skipping when I don't mess it up, still working on my technique though so I don't really class it as a CV excercise when I do it.

just a btw point: weight lifting is HIIT at its purest form and we all know the benefits to that.
