Where do you currently train fella?
And what is it you wanna target specifically?
Standup, Ground, Wrestling?
Have you trained as part of a group yet? 1 on 1 training has its advantages but training and sparring with a variety of individuals of various heights, weights and abilities brings a whole host of advantages of its own.
take some bjj classes or wrestling classes...

Are you training at an MMA gym? If so then I would have thought that they would teach you some submissions and transitions, at least the basics like arm bars, kimuras, chokes and the occasional leg lock. This is bread and butter stuff that I would expect any MMA gym to coach.
i know a fighter called Dave Garvey who does personal mma training out of Fighting Fit in Manchester. good guy not mega expensive. try going down to fighting fit or emailing them, they have a website.
I think Ozzy Haluk at Manchester Ground n Pound does privates. The gym is in Van Dang Martial arts centre at picadilly.
Finally, there's Predators MMA Gym near Victoria station, dunno if they do private lessons?
Our main trainer Matt Inman is in my opinion the best teacher for all round MMA in Manchester.
Here's his bio which speaks for itself, European Champion.
Matt Inman Matt is a pro MMA fighter and BJJ Purple Belt under SBG’s Karl Tanswell. Matt is an experienced and active competitor who already has 16 MMA fights under his belt as part of the SBGUK competition team. He is the current Strike & Submit European title holder and has a professional record of 8 wins with 2 losses. Matt has also competed in Thai Boxing, with over 15 fights, a career in which highlights have included fighting in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand and holding the IKF British Amateur Title. Matt regularly competes in BJJ and Submission Grappling, taking Gold at the 2010 Scottish BJJ Open and frequently medalling in the advanced divisions of no-gi competitions such as Ground Control and UMA.
Matt’s competition experience and passion for combat athletics has helped him develop an understanding of all aspects of mixed martial arts. He has coached at SBGUK and is a well versed competition coach. Matt enjoys working with all levels of athletes, from fighters training for competition, to total beginners who are just looking to get in shape and have fun.
Matt strives to use realistic and “alive†drills in all classes so that athletes may develop their skills against resisting opponents. His classes are designed to be technically detailed, a challenging workout and above all a lot of fun.
Matt is also available for one to one sessions and training small groups. Email m.t.inman86@gmail.com or call 07921068879 for more info.
“Definitely one off the most well rounded coaches to come out of Sbg. And one of the most dedicated fighters I’ve had pleasure to work with. Matt’s sessions will be superb, no doubt†Karl Tanswell, SBG Black belt.
